This first set closin YEM opens up right outta Also Sprach
Zarathustra. The pre-"High on Life" (still haven't heard a better
name, although I like the suggested "Steps in the Elysian Fields"
segment) section begins at the usual time, 1:17 into the YEM. Spacey
and mystical... HOL or Nirvana or SITEF segment at 3:30. Page takes
off on the piano.. Mike's solo section at 4:14, and he's melodious and
thoughtful at first, becomingly increasingly more active. Good
stuff. Crowd goes crazy during the pre-charge section (trampolines
brought out by Sandsio). Trey nails the first shot at the Note at 5:35
and jams well around it, but one of his strings sounds a little out of
tune (maybe he didn't hit that note right.. I dunno). Second shot at
the Note is sustained well at first but then goes.. well.

"Boy" at 6:54 after an excellent scream from Trey. Decent WUDMTF
segment.. with the tramps jam, there's more of that "scratching"
effect as Trey and Mike bounce away. Page's soloing is pretty dark and
sinister in here until 10 minutes, when he becomes more poetic on the
Hammond. Good groove.. great leads from Page! This is an unusually
long "tramps" segment.. Page is still playing well around 10:30.

At 11:13 the jam segment begins with Trey taking off out front
unusually forcefully for recent versions. He appears to have an Idea
for this jam from the start. After soulfully firing off a few licks,
he locks into a solid theme-driven groove around 12 mins. The jamming
for the next minute is fairly straightforward awesome YEM material,
imo.. nothing terribly unusual. Trey's soloing is *right on*, though
-- there's no aimless wandering or noodling. Doesn't climax all that
well, though, and at 15:20 Trey just well, dumps it, and sustains an
eerie chord..

At 15:45 you'd think it would be B&D time... and indeed, Mike begins
to "solo" looooow on his bass accompanied solely by Fish. A very
spooky, melodious, repetitive groove... but Mike doesn't play too many
notes... I guess he isn't into it. Very weak B&D, if it is even fair
to call it that. (probably isn't)

And then at 16:44 Trey starts vocal jam to the riff that Mike was
repeating, and Page joins in.. and Mike (17:15). Fish is the only one
playing in the background (lightly) to this rather plain (but
grooving.. very rhythmic) VJ (17:30). The vocal jam becomes
increasingly harmonious as Mike adds more high end. Fish drops out at
17:150, and the crowd has started clapping along. Trey is still
repeating that riff that Mike had been playing (18), which is I
suppose eerily reminiscent of Midnight Rider (sorta.. a wee bit). At
18:50 a more traditional vocal jam begins... blah. Mike ends a wee bit
later than the others. Total time: 20:06. Easy B rating.. typical
awesome at best. I'm probably being too generous but the ratings are
bogus anyway.
