Thanks to Dan Epstein for this set. Trey's playing in the first
thirty seconds is a bit weak, but not sloppy or botched. Pre-Nirvana
section is spacey and beautiful. "Nirvana" at 3:38. Excellent.
Mike's solo section at 4:24 is stern but melodious. Pre-charge rips,
but Trey's chords aren't all there (at first). Trey's first shot at
The Note is poorly sustained, but Trey quickly jammed it out a bit,
recovering nicely. The second Note is sustained, but doesn't get good
tone from what I can hear. Sounds a bit sharp.

"Boy" at 7:05 after a very healthy scream. Phatty funky WUDMTF
segment right from the start (you thought the funk started in 1997? I
think NOT), with some nice wah wah licks from Trey and drippy
psychedelic bass from Mike. Funky skins from Fish. Trey might tease
a tune I can't name inbetween WUDMTF verses/lyrics -- he plays a
queer melody. Sounds like it could be a tune (not one that I've *ever*
heard though). Very cool if he improvised it...

Dramatic opening to the tramps segment at 9:22. Signals from Mike for
the moves. Page wails on his hammond, Fish pounds out a heavy groove.
An excellent segment, though!! Lots of strength! Isn't just a run of
a the mill version at all. Very funky!

At about 11:05 the jam segment basically begins. It sounds like
Trey's saying something in the background, off mic, that I can't make
out, at one point. His soloing is steady and mellifluous overtop the
rich, funky bottom!! Trey also throws out some nice chords to push
the groove even more forward!!

These November 1995 YEMs.. DAMN!!!!

Trey climactically solos around 14mins, maxing this dank YEM *OUT*!!
He throws in some borderline Crossroads chords, taboot!! What's
this!? At around 15 minutes, Trey begins playing Crossroads!! Fish
hears him, and soon, by 15:25, they are all playing Crossroads. An
excellent, real ->segue. After a verse, they launch into a Crossroads
jam segment (Rock Star Trey time)... and then another verse, and they
end it in a cacaphonious frenzy..out of which,

at 17:42, Fish kicks in a YEM beat again! And everyone cruises back
into ANOTHER UPBEAT YEM jam segment!! Gorgeous noodling from Trey
around 18:20 for several measures. Fish SUDDENLY dropped the beat at
18:45 or so (was there a signal I wonder?), though. Just halved the
damn beat.. slowed it way down. Mike's snappy licks shine through but
there's no B&D yet. Trey is plucking away at the frets (but
mellifluously). Page patiently plays in the background...

Then at around 20 minutes everyone launches, as if on cue, into a
MONSTER of a closing jam!!! YES!!!! What a god damn
****RAGER****!!!! At around 21:30 or so, there are clearly hints of
Hendrix's "Purple Haze" lurking in the background!!

Then at 21:42 Mike takes off soloing melodiously, signaling a B&D
segment one would think -- BUT TREY STARTS TEARING SHIT UP!!!! Mike
and Fish jam more prominently together (and Trey and Page back off)
within about 30 seconds or so, though, when it definitely becomes B&D
time. Mike keeps the groove going with some HELL-BENT, melodious
soloing at first.. his solo takes an evil dive downscale at one point,
too. He also employs some *evil* effects in this version!!

Closing WUDMTF segment at 24:24 (touch slower than usual). Vocal jam
ensues within the usual 20 seconds.

Anyone know why they decided to vocal jam on "Suzie" for so long?

This vocal jam is heavy on the mouth-noises and light on the
harmonizing (more small furry creatures grooving with a pict than
monsters groaning & screeching & yelping). A very insane ending,
though.. Total time: 29:45.

I would lose all credibility if I failed to give this version an "A"
rating. Definitely one of the best versions I've heard, all
things considered, even though the opening segment could have been
stronger. Thanks, Dan!!!
