hey everyone,
went to the syracuse show last night, and what a show it was!!!
I dont have alot of time(I have two finals tommorow) but here are some
of the highlights.
  - met page and mike in the parking lot before the show. Mike was
doing some filming of the scene while page was playing hacky sack
with a group of pholks. I gave them a tape I had made for them of
the Dixie Dregs (Freefall) and Steve Morse(southern steel). Both
Mike and Page commented that they had just seen the Dregs recently
with ARU.

-during the part of Guelah were the music stops (right after asse
festival) a fan ran on stage and lovingly attacked Mike. after security
removed the woman. trey said something like "that was Mikes mother
coming up so he could wish her a happy mothers day.

  - then, before finishing Guelah, trey gave the four decending note,
"all fall down" signal. from the floor I couldnt really see how many
people caught it but they had us remain on the floor for quite awhile
before they got up and started playing.

_ both Maze and rift were hot, hot ,hot in the first set.

  - the show ended with tweezer reprise. page jammed while smoke(fog)
billowed out from behind him. it was really intense

there were many more highlights including Fishmans mom on vacuum
cleaner.

I saw just one net shirt there ( hi, dave).

I went to the Syracuse show last night (5/9) at the Armory...
the show was more than amazing. It was my second show and i
thought that the whole thing kicked ass (especially the second set)..
It was great to see Mrs. Fishman on stage playing a little bit of the
vacuum. I guess Fishman wasn't born to a pack of wolves after all. (That
is
, of course, unless that wasn't the real Mrs. Fishman!)

Can someone post the set list of the show?
I'll only be on the net until Thursday (home I must go), so could
   someone do it pretty quickly?
And does anyone have a tape of the show? I would be very psyched to
   get a tape of it!!!
happy painting and go phish -

                                              chip

My address at school is : "p3tj@cornella.cit.cornell.edu"
If anyone could send me the stuff directly, me and all of my
        Phish Phriends would luv it.

Comments:
The place was a really big gymnasium. The sound was horrible in the back
where the beer and open space were. They actually set up a couple
thousand wooden chairs that very few people sat in.
Everybody was right. They are getting better as they go!
The first set was about 90 minutes long! :-)

I talked to Trey after the show, for about 20 minutes. I gave him a tape
of Ned's Atomic Dustbin- God Fodder and The Replacements- Hootenany. He
was quite pleased but exclaimed, 'who the hell is Ned's Atomic Dustbin?'.
Here's some stuff I found out/confirmed:
The Santana tour will be 1 1/2 months and they'll be given 50 minutes to
do their thing. He said they've turned downed many opening act gigs with
such people as Little Feat and The Allman Brothers, but they couldn't pass
up touring with Santana. Trey explained that they're not really in this
to become 'big', but rather to just get out and play. That's why they're
playing a bunch of new places. Also places that aren't the ordinary
concert halls. Like the Riviera Theater in Buffalo. (More on that in a
different post).

The 5 band mini tour will most likely be the 3 dates that have been
mentioned.

I heard a rumor in Buffalo that they would be playing Darien Lake (near
Buffalo) too, but Popper refuses to do any shows that are associated with
John Scher Productions! The shows will be before the Santana tour which
starts in mid July and will go to the end of August. After that they'll
be
in the studio.

He asked me if I liked the Armory show better than the Buffalo show and I
told him that the sound was way better in Buffalo, but I liked the
Armory gig better. He agreed by saying that they played well tonight and
they didn't want to get off the stage but were forced to because of
a time restraint. They were supposed to be done by 11. :-(

Anyway, it was great to see the band again. They played great and
everyone seemed to have a real good time.
